Vasheda Hobbs and her three daughters’ home was destroyed by Hurricane Michael. Initially, they were able to stay with family, then found a short-term rental, but struggled to pay the high rent. Another client suggested to Vasheda that she contact the North Florida Inland LTR, so she reached out. Months later, she was selected by a review committee as one of the recipients of a new home to be constructed by AC HarvestCall. Nowling Family
The home of William and Deserie Nowling and their three daughters was damaged beyond repair by the storm. They were able to move in with Deserie’s family, but continued to work on cleaning up their property as much as they could. After a few disappointments, they were connected with North Florida Inland LTR, and were chosen as recipients of a new home built by AC HarvestCall. Nix Family
As LTR team members were assisting a neighbor, they met Mr. Willie Nix in 2019. Willie had retired from Covenant Hospice after years of service and was raising two active grandsons, ages 6 and 8. The Nix home needed extensive repairs, so Chipola Baptist Association (CBA) provided a travel trailer for them to move into until the home could be recovered. Unfortunately, due to COVID, the project was delayed and the family lived in the camper for over a year. Hilton Family
In early 2019, Robert Hilton registered with the North Florida Inland LTR. His home had been deemed unliveable, and he had limited resources. The LTR was able to connect Bob with Chipola Baptist Association, who provided a travel trailer as part of the pilot program between the Florida Dept. of Emergency Management and Calhoun and Jackson Counties. The LTR referred the case to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), who ultimately constructed a new home for Bob and his girls. Teresa Rebollar’s home sustained severe damage from Hurricane Michael. Assessments rendered the structure beyond repair, and after some time, the house was no longer liveable.Teresa connected with the North Florida Inland LTR who referred her case to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief).Don and Cheryl Holm’s home was also destroyed in the storm. They relocated to the Santa Rosa Beach area but donated their homesite lot to Marianna UMC.
